The “Biological Station Monte Perdido” in Revilla is set up in the recently restored house “Juan Bernad” (16th century), an old building of typical Pyrenean architecture and it is managed both by the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture and the Dutch Foundation LammerGierFonds.
Its objective is to develop training programmes, technical seminaries and accommodate groups mainly related to birds and the conservation of their habitat, which is its principal aim. The BSMP also serves as lodging for environmental researchers and experts who dedicate their labour to monitoring processes related to the studies of physical environment and ecology of the Pyrenean mountain ecosystems, including as such the biological, geographical, geological and etnographic aspects. As a “classroom in the open air”, it is to be used also for other aspects related to environmental education, rural development, extensive cattle raising or nature photography and painting, all of them social aims of FCQ. So its function is pre-eminently of a non-profit social nature, consisting of the realisation of a centre for the promotion of activities of a technical nature where, in a responsible and altruistic manner, practical tasks are developed for studies, training, dissemination and management of the environment, right within the sphere of the Pyrenees.

Revilla, in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees
The small village of Revilla is situated on the southern slope of the Sierra Sucas, at the altitude of 1200 m, in Tella-Sin (Huesca), between the Mirabal and Escuaín gorges and that mountain range. Its singular location, in an area of great value such as the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido and the Sobrarbe region, and to a great extent included in Red Natura 2000, makes this a place of special interest for groups related to the conservation and study of natural heritage.
The house is located in the heart of the Pyrenean Bearded Vulture population, being one of the best spots for the observation of this species in Europe.
